Badge Raw Material Guide: 44mm vs 58mm Pin Badge Blanks
September 19, 2026 · by ShopShip
Badge raw material is not one-size-fits-all. The blank size must match the mould and cutting workflow used by your badge machine. ShopShip currently offers round badge material in both 44mm and 58mm options.
44mm badge raw material
44mm badges are compact and work well for smaller logos, names and simple artwork. They are useful when you want a lighter, smaller finished badge.
58mm badge raw material
58mm gives more space for photos, illustrations, event branding and text. It is a practical option when the design needs more visual room.
Do not mix sizes
Your badge mould and blank size must match. If you use a 58mm mould, order 58mm badge material. If you use a 44mm mould, use 44mm material.

How much raw material should you keep?
Start with enough material to cover your normal order size plus a small allowance for test pieces and mistakes. Reorder before taking a large event or corporate job if your remaining stock is low.
Can a badge be converted into a magnet?
For compatible finished badges, you can use accessories such as the Badge Magnet with 3M Adhesive to create a magnetic-back format.
Frequently asked questions
Is 58mm better than 44mm?
Neither size is universally better. Choose based on the design, customer requirement and the mould you own.
Can I use 44mm raw material in a 58mm mould?
No. The raw material should match the mould size.
Should I buy both sizes when starting?
If you are new, one complete compatible size system is easier to manage. Add the second size when customer demand justifies it.
